Conference Update: New dates, March 31 - April 3
Dear United Latinos Members, Allies, and Friends,
First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, 2022 brings us renewed hope for justice, dignity, and respect for all workers.
Thank you for your support of the United Latinos of the UFCW and our 2022 Education Conference. We have been following COVID-19 data, and after thoughtful consideration, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will postpone our conference until March 31st- April 3, when it is our hope that safer conditions exist for us to meet in person. Even though, we prepared to set up necessary protocols to ensure everyone’s safety including verifying vaccination cards, we know that there has been a spike in breakthrough cases with the new COVID-19 variant. We have closely monitored national trends of COVID cases these past days. We take COVID-19 precautions seriously because we are too aware of the consequences otherwise particularly for our communities. Our priority is to keep our members, panelist, and conference participants safe.
We are coordinating with the hotel to push the existing reservations to the new dates. Your conference registration fees and sponsorships will be locked in, and you will receive a follow up email to confirm your registration for the new dates in the following weeks. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this postponement might cause but we want to ensure that we have a conference where we are all able to gather as safe as possible.
Once again, it was our responsibility to move forward with a choice that helps prevent the spread of COVID-19. The United Latinos executive board voted unanimously for this change, and look forward to welcoming you to Las Vegas this spring. Please reach out to us via email (rigo@ufcwunitedlatinos.org) if you have questions about the conference. We are here to help with any questions you may have and are looking forward to meeting in person soon.
In Solidarity,
Rigoberto Valdez, Jr.
President, United Latinos of the UFCW
